Pretty much every operating system in use these days supports TRIM-a special ATA command that the OS sends along to an SSD when deleting files on that SSD. TRIM is a set of commands commonly used to communicate with the OS on a lower level, allowing the OS to better communicate free space and improve 'garbage collection' on an SSD.
